Dear Sir,
Indeed for the last two
or more years the cries from members of
the then opposition National Democratic
Congress (NDC) and their battalion of
ground forces were for change from
corruption and dishonesty by the then
ruling New National Party Government led
by Doctor Keith C. Mitchell to the level
of honesty, integrity, transparency,
good governance and the rule of the law.
Eventually the electorate
was so wooed by those wonderful words
and phrases, they elected them (NDC)
into office in high hopes and great
expectations on July 8th,
2008. (LIBERATION DAY). However within
hours of their victory at the polls, the
nation saw and experienced in awe the
true change they were preaching and
clamoring for.
We saw the disgraceful
behavior that was demonstrated by their
supporters. The grave insults, both
verbally and physically that were hurled
at former government ministers and their
families, supporters and well wishes of
the NNP
We witnessed the manner
in which the former Prime Minister was
treated while technically he was still
the leader of the country, when some
members of the Royal Grenada Police
Force (RGPF) so rudely and disgracefully
demanded the two State Vehicles that was
afforded him.
It was also amazing to
see how some senior members and
activists of the NDC behaved on the
night of the election. Remember the
commando style manner in which they
demanded the keys from the security
guards who were peacefully carrying out
their duties by guarding both the
Financial and Ministerial Complexes. The
buildings were locked down and the
guards were ordered to proceed to their
homes immediately.
To my mind the most
atrocious and disgusting thing from then
up until the present time is the
lackluster and irresponsible behavior by
the Leader of the NDC who fortunately or
unfortunately is the current Prime
Minister and Minister responsible for
National Security of the Country.
I have yet to hear the
“Angel” of honesty, integrity,
transparency, accountability, good
governance and the rule of law, i.e. the
Prime Minister address the nation and
publicly condemn those vicious
atrocities and senseless behavior that
were demonstrated by his senior party
supporters.
I do not expect any
member of his party, Cabinet or
Government to do so either.
May the good Lord help us
as a nation.
