Opposition Leader |
Monday,
January 5th, 2009: Members of Her
Majesty’s Opposition is calling on the
Government to extend the time given for
persons to reapply for the Public
Assistance Programme.
The
Opposition is concerned about the many
persons who are unaware of the deadline
given to reapply. In addition, many
persons on the programme will not be
able to leave their homes and will have
to depend on others to collect the form
and return it for them.
It is
therefore making an appeal on behalf of
such persons and hopes that Government
is not using the process as a strategy
to reduce the amount of persons on the
list so it can meet the commitment to
increase the monthly payment by $50.00
after promising an increase to $400.00
during the July 2008 election campaign.
