What goes around, comes around

What is taking place in Grenada today ought to be expected by all; both supporters and opponents of the present Government?  There is a saying that “you can’t plant yam and expect to reap potatoes”  The present Government leaders including the Prime Minister planted some terrible seeds of hate, lies, character assassinations and disrespect and that they are reaping today.  The only loser in all this is Grenada.

Listening to some supporters of the present Government privately and publicly, you get the impression that they are upset that people are starting to ridicule the Prime Minister and some ministers and they are openly calling for that disrespect to stop. One can remember that it was the same NDC supporters who were encouraged by the present leaders who planted and pushed the propaganda on the ‘briefcase issue” They were quite happy to push this all over the regional and international media, thereby affecting the image of the Prime Minister.  They were also very happy to make all false accusation against Gregory Bowen and other members of the NNP.  They were quite happy to plant or invent stories like: “no oxygen in the hospital”, “TB in the prison” and “no medicine in the hospital”.  The striking thing about all these is that they were all lies concocted to make the NNP Government look bad for political purpose.

The NDC did everything they could in an attempt to destroy the NNP administration and the good name of Grenada. The medium and long tern damages to the country were never considered.  Unfortunately the NDC administration is now reaping the sour fruits but they still will not learn.

Today, even if they are in Government they continue to peddle these falsehoods and are comfortable doing this.  The NDC administration continues to use its close associates to attack individuals and to fuel hatred and division in our society.  They continue to manufacture propaganda not realizing that the last campaign for a general election ended on July 7th 2008.  They continue to operate as they did in opposition, still trying to play with the minds of the people.  They have not yet realized that the people of Grenada Carriacou and Petite Martinique people have learnt many lessons from the last general elections and will not make the same mistake again. They fail to realise that this kind of behaviour will only cause more destruction to the country and to their own political organisation.

Today the people of Grenada are crying out loud because of the way they were misled by the NDC, because of the many unfulfilled empty promises made to them during the election campaign.  Rather than take decisive actions to correct the problems they face and to honor the promises they made, the NDC administration continue the strategy of blaming, attacking and destroying.  They continue to blame the NNP for everything they do wrong and for not being able to deliver on all the reckless promises they made.  They continue to produce and reproduce malicious lies and spreading propaganda against the leadership of the NNP with the intention of destroying the NNP so they will be in office ‘forever’.  When will NDC learn?  When will NDC understand that the lies, hatred and deceit which got them into office will not be able to keep them there.

The voice of the people is loud and clear they have had enough of this and they are interested in moving Grenada forward.  They are dissatisfied with the performance of the Government since assuming office in July and they are still looking for change.  More over they are concerned that the government is not living up to its campaign theme of accountability, transparency, good governance and respect for institutions.  These words are hardly mentioned by those who repeated them in every sentence during the last general election.

The real issue is “what goes around always comes around” and NDC turn has come around very fast with facts not lies and fiction.  The NDC supporters have a lot more coming.  Their team will always continue to self destruct.
