Dear
Editor,
The level
of incompetence and hypocrisy of this
government far exceeds any other thing I
have ever seen. I recall hearing this
government condemn the former
administration on numerous occasions.
What we see today is that they do the
same thing and worse. They said that the
former administration was only focusing
on infrastructural development whilst
neglecting the people. Despite the many
opportunities provided by the NNP for
the poor and vulnerable the NDC was
never satisfied they wanted Keith
Mitchell and his administration to find
the money to do more.
Today, what
do we see? They complain that there is
no money and they seem to be making
absolutely no effort to find money.
Imagine, the current Minister of Finance
has declared that there is no money in
the treasury but at the same time the
Prime Minister was announcing that a
trip overseas cost us taxpayers over 30
thousand dollars, the same Minister of
Finance said as if it was no money at
all that over 300 thousand dollars was
spent on purchasing furniture. At the
same time hundreds of thousands is spent
hiring the ‘big boys’ who worked hard
behind the scene during the campaign.
At the same
time, ordinary hard working and poor
Grenadians are sent home everyday from
their jobs. The names of elder people
who cannot help themselves are removed
from the public assistance list to the
amazement of many. At the same time
this Government has the guts to say to
us that over 50 thousand dollars will be
spent on food and other basic things for
the ceremony to rename the airport.
This hurts my heart, to know that the
NDC is more concerned about “making
history”, whilst the people suffer. It
is indeed a sad case. I am convinced
that the conscience of some members of
this administration is causing them to
take this action regardless of how the
people feel or think. God have mercy on
the NDC administration.
