Stop the blame game and do something

Dear Editor,

Some time ago I wrote to you regarding the NDC government and how they blamed the Computer System for the fact that hundreds of names were removed from the Public Assistance Program. This I thought was very absurd and I wanted to know if the computers entered and removed the information into the system for themselves. To think that the government will actually go so far as to blame the poor computer is astonishing and is something a comedian would say to get a good laugh. Are these people out of their minds? It reminded me of the song that said ‘doh blame me blame the rum’….

I have been observing this government at work and it seems that they blame someone for everything that goes wrong taking no responsibility for their poor performance and incompetence.  After almost two years in office the elevator breaks down you blame NNP.  After receiving over a millions of dollars in grants and loans you still blame the NNP for not being able to buy basic medication for the hospital and for an outstanding bill of about only 3million dollars.  You blame the NNP for the massive stone which came down and destroyed the road at perseverance when you had the study and recommendations which said don’t blast the stone.  We cannot get water you blame NNP for the malfunctioning desalination plants when you had almost two years to fix it.  The rate of water to increase, you blame NAWASA as if you forget that it is a state owned entity.

You blame NNP for not being able to start new projects because you said the treasury is empty but you seem to find money quite often to increase the budget to travel all over the world in large delegations, to hire close friends and family members, to buy furniture costing hundreds of thousand of dollars.  You blame NNP for the people who were removed from the public assistance, transportation and other programme saying they do not qualify.  You blame NNP for not continuing the milk programme saying that it was a political programme.  You blame the whether for not giving poor people a job on the road since last year.   You blame NNP for not being able to start the Grenville project when the money is available and you have to pay for not using it.  My God…. NDC Stop the blaming and do something.

S. Thomas
