ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, Thursday, July 18, 2013 - GIS: Parliamentary Secretary for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Senator Jester Emmons, is happy with the work done in the Sister Isles five months after the New National Party of Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, has been returned to office.

Speaking at last Wednesday’s sitting at the Senate, Senator Emmons said, that Carriacou and Petite Martinique are getting their fair share of the positive developments taking place throughout the Tri-Island State.

He said, that the commencement of the De-bushing Program in Carriacou is most welcomed by his constituents.

“We believe that the cleaning of these areas is very important”, he said, noting, that gangs have also been put to work in areas in Petite Martinique.

”We are going to put out another 20 gangs to ensure that the environment is looking good; but also, it is about putting money into the hands of the ordinary people, so that things can get going in the economy.”

The government official is elated that seven road projects, six in Carriacou and the other in Petite Martinique, are soon to begin along with the construction of a playing field in Petite Martinique that was promised in the 2013 Budget.

He assured the people in Petite Martinique, that the Sea Defense Project there will come on stream shortly.

“We are working in collaboration with other partners to ensure that the project is implemented.”

Senator Emmons is hopeful that the project will be completed before the end of October.

He indicated, that a better and more modernized facility will be constructed following the erection of the Sea Defense, to protect the area from the elements of the sea, which damaged the playing field used
