ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, Thursday, August 22, 2013 - GIS: Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell has said that “the performance of the Royal Grenada Police Force speaks volumes to investors and tourists alike about the country’s image, economy and stability. Therefore, the RGPF is a critical component in nation-building.”

The Prime Minister was addressing members of the Eastern Division of the Royal Grenada Police Force at the Grenville Police Station on Wednesday, August 21.

The Prime Minister complimented the work of the officers in maintaining order during the most recent carnival season, and urged the members to continue to execute their duties with the highest possible standards, and to not allow their political views or affiliations to ever get in the way of their jobs.

Prime Minister Mitchell said that he is convinced that there is “enough talent within the Force for succession in the ranks.” He assured the gathering that any officer, who shows the necessary initiative and work ethic, will be given an equal opportunity for training and advancement.

Prime Minister Mitchell took the opportunity to compliment the Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. Winston James, on the emphasis placed on the equal inclusion of women within the ranks of the Police Force.

The meeting at the Grenville Police Station is part of an ongoing series of outreach meetings that the Prime Minister, who is also Minister of National Security, is embarking on, with a view to making direct contact with the workforce of the country, to get a feel for the people’s views on the running of the country and the different departments therein.

Also present at the Grenville meeting on Wednesday, August 21st were Acting Commissioner Winston James, Deputy Commissioners Redhead and Martin, as well as Superintendents and other members of the Rank and File.
