This Paper is a proposal that can be adopted to embrace the positive intent of ALL our nationals abroad who honestly want to come together in an organized manner to help our small country.
In the planning and organizing stage I'm sure you agree that ideas will emerge to improve upon the foundational bases laid out in the Paper.
Please read the Paper online and post your comment.
Presently, organizing is underway and we have begun to contact EVERY ORGANIZATION of Grenadians to participate in the initial discussions.
POST YOUR ORGANIZATION's CONTACT INFORMATION IN THE COMMENT BOX AND YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH ALL THE PLANNING SCHEDULE. ALL ORGANIZATIONS AND THEIR MEMBERS AND YOU ARE STAKEHOLDES IN THIS PROJECT.
Periodically, we know that Mr. George Grant and Mr. Michael Bascombe will use their media outlets to ensure that you are apprised of the ongoing planning and organizing.
Please pay close attention to the dates and times of the "Calling the Diaspora" broadcasts.
We have started using this and every other online forum to keep you fully informed as well.
Once we have established a workable framework with the dozens of Grenadian organizations in London, New York, Toronto, Ontario, Atlanta, Maryland, Atlanta, Miami, Trinidad and elsewhere we will hold open discussions with the larger Diaspora communities.
After several months of sharing our ideas and fine tuning the elements of the Plan, a Founding Conference will be held in St. Georges that will be open to every Grenadian national abroad who is able to attend as a delegare or observer.
Remember dear friends, this is a non-political, non-partisan effort that will be organized and led abroad by nationals and not by government officials.
We are pleased that the Government of Grenada will be establishing an Office of Diaspora Affairs in St. Georges under the aegis of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (a Diaspora Desk), to accomodate the support projects that we will be developing together. Because we are interested primarily in developing an efficient and productive network of diaspora organizations and in maintaining harmonious relations with all our secular and faith community leaders we are starting this process in the sunshine of full disclosure.
Also, because we recognize the important stake that interested nationals like yourselves have in this serious undertaking, we invite you, as members of our nation's Diaspora to interrogate the Paper, to send us your own suggestions and to develop your own documents and to share it with us.
Remember, our nationals abroad are sending every year over $100 million (USD) approximately one-third of Grenada's GDP back home.
If we organize ourself in an open, transparent, inclusive and democractic fashion and follow best practices in management, accountability and above all, mutual respect, there is no quantifying the substantial yield of our collective contribution to our Beloved Grenada, Carriciou and Petit Martinique.
Thank you kindly for your considerations.
Together We Can.
