Subject: Re: Challenge For the Leadership of NNP

I am happy to know that you are honest enough to state that you are not an NNPite. Let me assure you that those within the ranks of the NNP who are calling for a change of leadership at this time does not understand politics in the caribbean and Grenada in particular. Grenadian follow a leader and that leader must earn his ranks. The person to replace Keith Mitchell will have to come through the ranks of the NNP. Let me also remind you that there will not be any NNP A or NNP B. Do you remember the A team that emerged after NNP defeat in the 1990 election where are they today?
Let me also remind you of two islands closer to us where leadership was change untimely and the end result. First let us look at St.Vincent, James Mitchell gave the leadership of the NDP to Eustace Anheim what was the result in the last two election there. Yes the NDP lost both elections. Then there is St. Lucia, same senerio John Compton gave the leadership of the UWP to Vaughn Lewis what was the result of the two elections in which he lead the UWP, yes defeat for them. John Compton had to come out of retirement take the leadership of the party again and then went on to defeat the SLP in the last election that was held there. We in the NNP cannot make the same mistake. When Keith Mitchell is giving up the leadership, the party must be in Government and the new leader must have at least two years at helm before he leads the party into an election.
This is the knid of change that I will support and advocate for within the NNP
